1 Dead, at Least 10 Wounded in Chicago Shootings Sunday

A 24-year-old man is dead and at least seven others have been wounded in shootings across the city of Chicago on Sunday.

The fatal shooting took place in the 4600 block of South Lamon just after 7 p.m., according to police. The victim was standing on a sidewalk when a person walked up to him and opened fire, striking him in the chest and abdomen.

The victim later succumbed to his injuries, and police are still searching for a suspect.

Earlier Sunday, a 17-year-old boy was standing on a sidewalk in the 7700 block of South Normal at approximately 3:45 p.m. when a person walked up to him and opened fire, striking him in the head.

The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, and police are still searching for a suspect.

In the city's most recent shooting, two men were inside of a fast food restaurant in the 7100 block of South State Street when another men walked inside and fired shots at them. 

A 29-year-old man was taken to the University of Chicago in critical condition after he was shot in the face, and a 20-year-old man was taken to the same hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his chest. 

No one is in custody, and police are still investigating. 

Here are the rest of Sunday’s shootings:

  • A 28-year-old man was shot in the leg after a fight broke out in the 800 block of West Jackson at 12:30 a.m., police said. The victim was taken to Stroger in stable condition, and four persons of interest are being questioned in the incident.
  • In the 4500 block of South Lawler at approximately 12:38 a.m., a 28-year-old man was sitting in a parked car when he heard shots and felt pain in his ankle. He was taken to Mount Sinai in good condition, and told police he did not see where the shots came from.
  • A 21-year-old man was standing on a sidewalk in the 2300 block of West 19th Street when a person in a passing vehicle fired shots at him, striking him in the leg. He was taken to Mount Sinai in stable condition, according to police.
  • At approximately 2:30 p.m., a 29-year-old woman was driving when a light-colored SUV pulled up alongside her car in the 5800 block of South Shields and opened fire, grazing her in the left side of her torso. She was taken to St. Bernard’s in good condition according to police.
  • Two men were shot in the 1500 block of North Kostner at approximately 6 p.m., police say. A 19-year-old man was shot in the abdomen, and was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, and a 20-year-old was in good condition after being shot in the hand. Both victims are being uncooperative with police.
  • A 59-year-old man was shot multiple times during a domestic-related altercation in the 4800 block of West Gladys, according to police. The man was taken to Stroger in stable condition, and police are speaking to a person of interest.
