Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms could impact parts of the Chicago area Monday.
The isolated storms were expected to move across northern Illinois and northwest Indiana through the afternoon, bringing the threat of heavy rainfall and cloud to ground lightning. The storms were not expected to be severe, but could develop in 30 to 40 percent of the area, moving in from the northwest.
A Significant Weather Advisory was issued for southern Porter, southern Lake and northwest Jasper counties until 1:15 p.m. Storms there could produce wind gusts of up to 50 mph, frequent lightning and torrential rainfall.
Temperatures were forecast to rise into the mid- to upper-80s, but with humidity levels would feel like low-90s.
