9 Hurt, 1 Critically, in Overnight Shootings

At least nine people were injured, one critically, in various shootings across the city late Friday and early Saturday. No one is in custody for any of the shootings.

A 21-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot in the stomach just after midnight in the 7600 block of South May Street, police said. He was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center. Calumet Area detectives are investigating.

Earlier, about 11:40 p.m. in the North Lawndale neighborhood, a 28-year-old woman was shot in the back in the 1800 block of South Albany Avenue. She was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said. Harrison Area detectives are investigating.

Seven minutes later, an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 3000 block of West 53rd Street, police said. He was taken in "stable" condition to Mount Sinai Hospital. Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.

On the Northwest Side, another 21-year-old man was shot around 1:28 a.m. in the 4400 block of North Monticello Avenue, police said. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the chest. Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.

Around 1:39 a.m., a 25-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 5400 block of South Halsted Street, police said. He was taken to Provident Hospital of Cook County in good condition. Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.

At 1:53 a.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 100 block of North Pine Avenue, police said. He was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in stable condition. Grand Central Area detective are investigating.

A male of an unknown age was shot in the leg around 1:57 a.m. in the 6500 block of South Washtenaw Avenue, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition. Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.

Two men were injured around 4:16 a.m. in a shooting incident at 4644 S. Fairfield Ave., police said. One man, only described as "middle-aged," sustained a graze wound to the head.

A second man in his 20s sustained a head injury and was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. It was unclear Saturday morning if the head injury was due to a gunshot or other trauma.
