Boy, 12, Two Teens, Charged With Knifepoint Sex Assault

Three boys face criminal charges after an alleged home invasion ended in a knifepoint sexual assault on Chicago’s South Side, police announced Wednesday.

The boys, 12, 15 and 16, were all charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault and home invasion. The 16-year-old boy was also charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.

On Sept. 14 the three boys sexually assaulted a 34-year-old woman after entering her residence about 11 p.m. in the 9600 block of South Prairie Avenue in the city’s Rosemoor neighborhood, police said. Police said the boys told the woman they had a gun and then sexually assaulted her while holding her at knifepoint.

The boys then fled the residence with some of the woman’s personal belongings, police said.

Area South detectives originally spoke to the 15-year-old boy on Sept. 15 as a person of interest before taking him into custody, according to Officer Kevin Quaid. The 16-year-old boy was taken into custody on Sept. 16 and the 12-year-old boy on Sept. 21, police said.

An investigation was ongoing. Police do not release mugshots of juvenile suspects.
