3 Dead, at Least 7 Wounded in Sunday Shootings

2 of the victims were shot early Sunday morning while they sat in a car

Three people are dead and at least seven others have been wounded in shootings across the city of Chicago Sunday.

Two of the victims were killed in the 100 block of North Lockwood just before 2 a.m. Sunday morning, according to police. The victims were sitting in a parked car when shots were fired, striking both victims.

A 21-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene with a gunshot wound to her head. A 26-year-old man was shot multiple times and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police have no further information on the slayings, and are still investigating the shooting.

At 3:41 p.m. Sunday afternoon, police say that three men were shot in the 400 block of North Springfield. One of the victims, a 37-year-old man, was shot in the head, and was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai a short time later.

The other two victims, a 34-year-old man and a 32-year-old man, were both taken to local hospitals, where they are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Here are the other shootings in the city Sunday:

  • A 32-year-old man was standing on a sidewalk in the 11000 block of South Wentworth at approximately 1:45 a.m. when he was shot in the right leg, according to police. He was taken to Roseland in stable condition.
  • Just after 2 a.m. in the 3300 block of West Montrose, a 23-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk when he heard shots. He was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his right leg, according to police. 
  • Just before 1 p.m. in the 11300 block of South Calumet, a 26-year-old man was in an alley when a gray vehicle pulled up and an occupant inside opened fire, striking him in the right leg. The man was taken to Christ Hospital in serious condition, according to police. 
  • Just after 8 p.m. in the 8100 block of South Cottage Grove, two men were caught in crossfire, police said. A 27-year-old man and a 20-year-old man were in a parking lot when two people opened fire, and both were struck by gunshots. The older man was struck in the right leg and was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in stable condition, and the younger man was shot in the left ankle and was in stable condition at U of C.
