A 22-year-old woman was out of surgery but remained in critical condition early Friday morning after being shot in the stomach in Chicago's Albany Park neighborhood.

The woman, whose name was not released, was shot shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday on the 4700 block of North Bernard Street, according to police News Affairs Officer Ana Pacheco.

The woman told police that someone shot her during an attempted robbery in front of her own apartment. She was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition, Pacheco said.

No one was in custody as of 9:30 a.m. but police continued investigating.

Authorities said the victim was not being cooperative with investigators about what happened. She also declined to provide a description of the shooter, they said.
