A 23 year-old-man was charged with drug possession following a crash Tuesday evening crash with a Chicago Police Department squad car.
David Kreutz, of the 1600 block of West Catalpa Avenue, struck the officers' vehicle near West Morse Avenue and North Sheridan Road at about 7:20 p.m. after making an improper left turn, officials said.
The officers were on their way to answer a call when they were hit, a fire department official said. They weren't seriously hurt but were taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston for observation.
Kreutz was cited for failure to yield the right of way while making a left turn, driving without insurance, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of drugs. He was also charged with one felony count of manufacture and delivery of cannabis, News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
Kreutz, who is a bartender, had about 50 grams of cannabis on him, according to Mirabelli. Police did not have details on where he works.
