The Chicago Police Department on Tuesday issued a community alert after two armed home invasions were reported in the last month on the city's northwest side.

One invasion occurred in the 5800 block of North Jersey Avenue on June 7 at 9:50 p.m. The other took place in the 6300 block of North Lowell Avenue on June 16 at 1:05 p.m., police said.

In both incidents, two to three males forced their way into the victims’ homes, showed a handgun, and searched through the houses. In one incident, one of the suspects fired a weapon, and in the other, they claimed to be police officials in search of someone, police said.

The three attackers were described as black males who stood about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighed about 150 pounds. They were wearing tight ski masks or hooded sweatshirts, police said.

Anyone with information should call detectives at 312-744-8263.
