Rahm Emanuel's Brother Met With President-Elect Trump

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel's brother, Ari Emanuel, met with his former client President-elect Donald Trump over the weekend.

Trump called Emanuel “the king of Hollywood” when he arrived at the president-elect's golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey, on Sunday, according to a report from CNN. Emanuel, who is the co-CEO of Hollywood talent agency WME-IMG, is reportedly not seeking a role in Trump's administration, but attended the meeting to “discuss some concerns he had,” although details remain scarce. After the meeting, Trump referred to Emanuel as a “great friend.”

Emanuel represented Trump in some negotiations with NBC over his reality television show “The Celebrity Apprentice,” CNN reports. However, WME-IMG, which bought Trump’s ownership stake in the Miss Universe Pageant in 2015, said it no longer represents Trump, according to the report.

Throughout the course of Trump's campaign, Mayor Emanuel publicly criticized the Republican's incendiary rhetoric about the city’s violence. Earlier this month, Chicago’s City Council voted to remove a street sign honoring Trump, a move that Emanuel supported.

The mayor also joined city leaders and healthcare officials last week to reaffirm Chicago’s status as a sanctuary city in an announcement responding to Trump’s plan to deport or incarcerate 2-3 million people who are living in the country illegally.

Politics run throughout the Emanuel family, as Rahm and Ari’s older brother Ezekiel, a physician, was a key architect of the Obama Administration’s Affordable Care Act that Trump has vowed to repeal.
