Fire at Treatment Center Displaces 12

Early morning fire at alcohol rehabilitation center lights up night sky

At least 12 people were displaced after a massive early morning fire at an apartment building in Chicago's Back-of-the-Yards neighborhood.

More than 100 emergency workers responded to the two-story complex, on the 4900 block of South Hoyne Avenue, at about 1:15 a.m. Thursday.

Police said the building was an alcohol rehabilitation center and at least 12 people were displaced by the fire.

Firefighters tried to douse the flames from all entire perimeter of the building.

Fire crews reported having the fire under control at about 3 a.m. No injuries were reported, and a cause of the fire was not known as of 5 a.m.
