A Chicago hospital has once again been named among the best in the nation, according to the newest ranking from U.S. News & World Report.
Northwestern Memorial Hospital was ranked at no. 13 on the list of top 20 hospitals in the country, the only Illinois hospital to be named among the prestigious “Honor Roll” list. That marked the same as last year’s ranking, which was a drop from Northwestern’s eighth-place ranking the year before and 11th place in 2015.
It also put Northwestern at the top of the list of best hospitals in Illinois for the seventh year in a row, followed by Rush University Medical Center, Loyola University Medical Center, Advocate Christ Medical Center and the University of Chicago Medical Center. [[480702241, C]]
The report used data and physician surveys from 4,656 hospitals, according to U.S. News & World Report, to examine and rank hospitals in 16 specialty areas, including cancer, cardiology, geriatric, neurology, orthopaedics and more.
The honor roll list is made up of the 20 hospitals that were nationally ranked in the 16 specialties.
The top hospital on the list was Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, followed by Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and the University of Michigan Hospitals-Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor.

Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago was also named among the Best Children’s Hospitals in the country, coming in at 10th on the list, a drop from last year’s seventh-place ranking.
