Chicago Fire Reportedly Trade Captain Dax McCarty

The Chicago Fire have reportedly made a big splash in the MLS trade market this week, sending team captain Dax McCarty to Nashville SC.

The trade was first reported by Paul Tenorio of The Athletic.

McCarty, who joined the Fire in 2017 after a successful run with the New York Red Bulls, scored one goal and dished out 12 assists in 86 contests with the Fire over three seasons. He also registered 11 shots on goal in those matches.

In exchange, the Fire will receive a second round draft pick, $50,000 in general allocation money, and $50,000 in targeted allocation money, according to the report. The deal will not become official until the MLS’ trade window opens later this month.

Nashville SC will join the MLS in 2020.
