1 Injured, 4 Displaced in Chatham Fire

Fire officials had no information about a cause as of 6 a.m.

An early morning house fire in Chicago's Chatham neighborhood injured one person and displaced four others, officials said.

Firefighters were called to the one-story bungalow on the 8300 block of South Maryland Avenue a little after 12:20 a.m., said department spokesman Juan Hernandez.

The house was fully involved and it took crews about an hour to put it out.

Four people were displaced and a fifth, a woman, was taken to Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center, Hernandez said. The woman's condition was not known as of 6 a.m.

Chicago's Department of Human Services was called to the scene to assist the residents.

Fire officials were investigating the cause of the fire but had no information as of 6 a.m.
