Englewood Home Collapses After Fire

No injuries were reported in fire at vacant Englewood home

A vacant home on Chicago's south side collapsed Thursday morning, hours after flames were seen shooting from the structure.

Crews were called to the home on the 6500 block of South Emerald Avenue, in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood, at about 2:30 a.m.

Firefighters had the fire out within an hour but said the structure was in danger of collapse and asked the Chicago Department of Buildings to deem it a priority for demolition.

Authorities said the building collapsed at about 5:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported.
