Two men were killed and at least five other people were wounded in shootings on Chicago's south and west sides between Tuesday afternoon and early Wednesday, officials said.
About 9:50 p.m. Wednesday, an Altgeld Gardens man was killed and another man was critically wounded in Chatham, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Jajuan Porter, 18, and a 26-year-old man were standing on a sidewalk in the 7900 block of South Vincennes Avenue when two other males walked up and opened fire, striking both men twice, authorities said.
Porter, of the 600 block of East 131st Street, was dead at the scene, and the 26-year-old was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the chest and shoulder, authorities said.
About five hours earlier, a 20-year-old woman was killed and a man critically wounded in the 1500 block of South Central Park Avenue in the North Lawndale neighborhood, police said.
Chasteddy Blocker, who lived in the block where the shooting happened, was shot in the back about 4:30 p.m. and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she died minutes later, authorities said.

A 34-year-old man was shot in the right hip and taken to Mount Sinai in critical condition, police said.
The most recent non-fatal shooting happened early Wednesday in the Jeffrey Manor neighborhood.
A 36-year-old woman was walking with a group about 1:15 a.m. in the 2200 block of East 100th Street when an unknown male walked up, opened fire and ran away, police said. She was shot in the leg and taken to Christ in “stable” condition.
Just after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday a 16-year-old boy was grazed by a bullet in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side.
He was walking by a group of people in the 11500 block of South Prairie Avenue when he heard a noise and realized a bullet had grazed his arm, police said. He was taken in good condition to Roseland Community Hospital.
Less than an hour earlier in the Woodlawn neighborhood, a 20-year-old man was walking in the 6400 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue about 6:45 p.m. when a car drove past and someone inside opened fire, hitting the man in the foot, police said. He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
No one was in custody for any of the shootings as of 6:30 a.m. as detectives continued to investigate.
