Alex DeBrincat Joins Patrick Kane on Team USA

The Chicago Blackhawks may not be competing for a Stanley Cup championship, but several of their biggest stars will be heading overseas to compete for gold on the international stage.

On Thursday, the team announced that forward Alex DeBrincat, who had 41 goals and 35 assists in his second NHL season, was among the first 17 players named to Team USA’s roster for the upcoming IIHF Men’s World Championships.

The announcement follows the news earlier this week that Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane had been named as the team’s captain for the annual tournament. Kane had a career year during the 2018-19 season, scoring 44 goals and dishing out 66 assists for the Blackhawks.

The tournament will get underway in Slovakia on May 10, with Team USA’s first test coming against the host nation.
