Blackhawks Assign Jan Rutta to Rockford

Rutta has two goals and four assists this season

The Chicago Blackhawks made a roster move on Friday, assigning defenseman Jan Rutta to the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs.

Rutta, who signed a one-year contract worth $2.25 million over the offseason, has scored two goals and registered four assists in 23 games with the Blackhawks this season, but has struggled to find regular ice time under new head coach Jeremy Colliton.

Under NHL rules, Rutta will still count for $1.225 million against the Blackhawks’ salary cap even when he’s playing for the IceHogs.
