Blackhawks, Bruins to Star in Winter Classic Reality Series

The series will premiere next week on NBCSN and will be available to stream on multiple platforms

The Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins will star in a documentary series ahead of their Winter Classic showdown on New Year’s Day, the NHL announced on Thursday.

The series, called “Road to the NHL Winter Classic,” will feature the teams as they prepare for the outdoor game at Notre Dame Stadium on Jan. 1, and will air on NBCSN beginning on Dec. 19.

The series, which will feature a total of three episodes, will air reruns on NHL Network, and will also be available to stream on the league’s website, according to a press release.

The first episode will air after the Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins game on Dec. 19, with the other two episodes airing on Dec. 27 and Jan. 6.

Dec. 19 at 10:30 p.m. Central (after Capitals-Penguins)

Dec. 27 at 4:30 p.m. Central

Jan. 6 at 10:30 p.m. Central (after Blackhawks-Penguins)

The NHL’s documentary series on the Winter Classic, and other outdoor games, have aired on a variety of networks, including HBO and Epix. This year’s show will also air on Sportsnet in Canada, and will re-air on NHL Network in the days following the debut of each episode, the league said.
