Patrick Kane Scores Twice as Blackhawks Beat Blue Jackets

DeBrincat and Kruger also scored as the Blackhawks notched their first regulation win of the year

Thanks to a pair of goals by Patrick Kane, the Chicago Blackhawks secured their first regulation win of the season in a 4-1 triumph over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night.

Alex DeBrincat and Marcus Kruger also scored goals for the Blackhawks, and Corey Crawford stopped 37 shots as the Blackhawks bounced back after a loss Thursday night.

Zach Werenski scored the lone goal of the game for the Blue Jackets, who fell to 4-3-0 on the season.

The Blackhawks got the goal scoring started early in the first period as DeBrincat scored on the rush. He took a beautiful feed from Dominik Kahun and deposited a shot past Sergei Bobrovsky to give the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead less than four minutes into the contest.

The Blackhawks coughed that lead up just eight minutes later, as Werenski got the puck at the blue line and skated between the circles before beating Crawford to knot things up at 1-1.

That score remained in place until the third period, when Kruger scored to give the Blackhawks the lead. Alexandre Fortin collected the puck along the boards and took advantage of several players skating in front of Bobrovsky, ripping a shot that Kruger deflected past the netminder to gave the Blackhawks a 2-1 lead.

Some precise passing enabled the Blackhawks to score a late insurance goal in the game, as Brent Seabrook feathered a gorgeous pass onto the stick of Kane for a tap-in goal and a 3-1 Blackhawks advantage.

Kane would later add in an empty net goal for good measure, and the Blackhawks skated out of Columbus with the victory.

The Blackhawks will now head back to Chicago where they will face the high-flying Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday night. The puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the game can be seen on NBC Sports Chicago.
