Chicago Bears Trim Roster to 80 as Training Camp Cuts Begin

The Chicago Bears must trim their training camp roster to 75 players before Tuesday, and on Sunday afternoon they began that process as they sent 10 players from the squad packing.

The big names on the list include defensive lineman Keith Browner and running back Senorise Perry, as both will hit free agency as teams begin shuffling up their rosters before the regular season.

Browner had a solid training camp for the Bears, picking up four total combined tackles in two preseason appearances.

As for Perry, the running back dressed in 16 games for the Bears during the 2014 season, grabbing one reception in his lone game action during that stretch.

He was hoping to win a job in a crowded backfield for the Bears, but with Ka’Deem Carey solidifying his spot, there was no room for the Louisville product.

Wide receivers Kieran Duncan, Derek Keaton, and Darrin Peterson were also waived, as were offensive lineman John Kling, defensive back Joel Ross, tight end Gannon Sinclair, and offensive lineman Martin Wallace.

The Bears also announced that they terminated the contract of vested veteran fullback Darrell Young.

With the roster moves, the Bears are down to 80 players, and will still need to cut five more players down before Tuesday’s deadline.
