The Chicago Bears have not had a defensive player make the Pro Bowl roster in five years, but that looks like it’s about to change as the team dominated the fan voting for the annual All-Star event.
In the final voting numbers released on Friday, the Bears had four players lead in the polls at their respective positions. That list is headlined by outside linebacker Khalil Mack, who led all defensive players with 577,100 votes in the fan voting portion of the Pro Bowl process.
Cornerback Kyle Fuller, strong safety Adrian Amos, and free safety Eddie Jackson also led in the voting at their respective positions, and return specialist Tarik Cohen was the fifth Bear to lead in the polls.
The Bears have not had a defensive player named to the Pro Bowl since cornerback Tim Jennings represented the team in 2013.
Unfortunately for the Bears, the fan vote only counts for one-third of the votes required to earn a starting spot on the Pro Bowl roster. Players and coaches will conduct voting on Dec. 14, and their votes count for one-third of the vote total apiece.
The Pro Bowl rosters will be announced on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
