A Rockford mall was closed Friday evening due to an incident in a parking lot at the mall, officials said.
CherryVale Mall said around 6:15 p.m. that "due to an incident that happened in the parking lot earlier this evening, the mall is currently closed."
"We are working closely with local authorities as they continue their investigation," the mall wrote on Facebook.
A message on the mall's website also claimed the mall had been closed.
