Celebrate St. Patrick's Day Early at the South Side Irish Parade This Weekend

There are various parking and traffic restrictions, so make sure you know before you drive.

While the city prepares for the Downtown St. Patrick’s Day Parade on the holiday, you can celebrate the holiday early this Sunday at the South Side Irish Parade.

The day kicks off with the Emerald Isle Mile run 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of 104th Street and Western Avenue. Registration for the Emerald Isle Mile is now closed.

The parade will officially begin at noon at the intersection of 103rd Street and Western Avenue and proceed south to 115th Street.

Parking restrictions will go into effect at 6 a.m. on Western Avenue from 99th Street to 119th Street.

Starting at 8 a.m., parking will be restricted on the east side of Artesian Avenue from 103rd to 111th streets.

Portions of all east/west streets between 103rd and 115th streets will be closed within 75 feet of Western Avenue. Traffic will also be restricted on those streets starting at 9 a.m.

The restrictions will be lifted at 3 p.m. Anyone with questions or concerns regarding alternate parking arrangements should email info@southsideirishparade.org or call 773-916-7747.

Special Olympics Chicago will serve as the Grand Marshal and is one of the parade’s key sponsors. Other sponsors include Lakeshore Beverage, Guinness, Bud Light, Green River Soda and AARP. Click here for a full list.

There is no alcohol allowed along the parade route. Being caught with an open container could result in up to a $1,000 fine, per city ordinance. Additionally, alcohol will be barred from the Metra Rock Island trains on parade day.
