Bolingbrook Cop Shot in Hand During Training Exercise

A Bolingbrook police officer was accidentally shot in the hand last week during a live fire training incident, according to the department’s professional standards office.

Officer Luke Anderson was injured on April 17 about 3:20 p.m. and taken to an area hospital with an injury considered non-life threatening, Lt. Anthony Columbus said in a statement.

Anderson was treated and released from the hospital and was expected to return to full duty, Columbus said.

The incident was still under investigation as of Wednesday afternoon by the Bolingbrook Police Department’s Office of Professional Standards.

Pressed for more details on the incident, Columbus cited the ongoing investigation and said no further details would be made available.

Efforts to reach Anderson by telephone were unsuccessful.
