Black Friday: Nice Day for a White Wedding… in a Mall

The date and location may be a little unconventional, but Jennifer Jasudowicz and Ed Kossman say they wouldn't have it any other way

The date and location may be a little unconventional, but a soon-to-be bride and groom say they wouldn't have it any other way.

It was Black Friday 2005, when Jennifer Jasudowicz and Ed Kossman had a chance meeting at Orland Square Mall.

"I was actually walking towards the elevator and I hit my girlfriend who was with me and I said, 'Did you see that gorgeous guy?' and she's like, 'What gorgeous guy?' Jasudowicz recalled Wednesday.

Kossman said he noticed Jasudowicz's gaze and turned around.

"I just turned right around to her and asked her out," he said.

Fast forward six years: the invitations are in the mail, her white dress is ready and the guests are preparing to battle throngs of bargain shoppers for a Black Friday wedding in the middle of the mall where it all started.

"People say, 'Oh, you're crazy. It's the busiest shopping day of the year,' but it means so much to us," said Kossman. "That's where we met. That's what brought us together."

Jasudowicz said she'll be taking the elevator from the food court to the upper level of the mall to make her grand entrance.
