Black Friday “Crush of Bodies” Closes Orland Square Mall Store for Two Hours

No arrests, injuries or stolen goods reported at Pink store

An early-morning crush of people at the Pink store in Orland Square Mall prompted employees to close the store for two hours Friday morning, police said.

About 100 people, mostly teenaged girls, pushed to get into the store that sells a Victoria’s Secret line of clothing and other products, and police received 911 calls from customers inside because people were getting knocked to the ground by what Orland Park Police Cmdr. John Keating called a "mass push of bodies."

There were no arrests and no injuries, and nothing was reported stolen, Keating said.

The store closed while staff cleaned up and mall security assisted with getting ropes and barricades to make sure the shoppers would be more orderly upon returning.

A woman who answered the phone at the Pink store referred all questions to the corporate office. Company officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
