All but one of the Aurora police officers injured in Friday’s fatal shooting at a local industrial complex have been released from area hospitals, the department said on Sunday.
A total of six officers suffered injuries during the shooting, which claimed five lives and ended with the gunman being shot to death in a gunfight with police.
Five of the officers suffered gunshot wounds, according to the department, and a sixth officer suffered a minor knee injury while responding to the incident.
Police did not identify the officer that remains in the hospital, but said that he is recovering from gunshot wounds to his lower body. The department is hopeful that the officer will be released in the near future.
“We continue in our gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community and surrounding areas,” the department said in a tweet.
The department also announced that it would begin to “provide wellness care for our first responders, dispatchers, support staff, and their families who were affected by Friday’s shooting.”

The Henry Pratt Company, where the shooting took place, will begin offering grief counselling services to employees beginning on Sunday afternoon, CEO Scott Hall said during a weekend press conference.
