Who's the heroic man driving that cab?
A Chicago cab driver who helped police nab a cross-dressing, chain-wielding pickpocket last month was named "Cab Driver of the Year" at a South Side event Friday morning.
Abdinasir Kahin was driving around Lakeview on Aug. 5 when he came upon two people beating a third man with a length of chain. Kahin jumped out of his car to intervene and ended up bear-hugging the cross-dressing bandit until police arrived.
For his heroics, Kahin received a bronze plaque, a $300 reward, and had his hand prints added to the Drivers of the Year Walk of Fame.
The Chicago City Council also passed a resolution on Sept. 9 commending Kahin.
