Woman Faces Felony DUI Charges in Deadly Crash

18-year-old driver in a deadly crash goes before a judge Tuesday

An 18-year old woman from Chicago's Southwest Side faces felony DUI charges for a deadly drunk driving crash over the weekend.

Jessica Bahena, of the 4500 block of South Richmond, was charged with aggravated DUI and driving without a valid license following a Sunday morning crash that killed 28-year old Ahmed M. Kighta.

Chicago Police said Bahena crashed her 2008 Chevrolet Malibu into another car at 2 a.m. Sunday near South Archer and South Spaulding avenues

Kighta was driving a 2011 Nissan Maxima on Archer when the Chevy Malibu slammed into him, police said.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Bahena told police she'd been drinking vodka with juice before the crash.

Officers on the scene reported the woman's breath smelled of alcohol and her eyes were bloodshot, according to the Tribune.

Police said she was arrested at the hospital while being treated for injuries to her hands and legs.

Bahena is scheduled to appear before a judge Tuesday in Central Bond Court.
