A Calumet Park woman was the victim of a random act of violence early Easter morning, police said.

Darlene Darty, 30, of the 1500 block of Freedom Boulevard in Joliet, was riding in a vehicle with her boyfriend when she was fatally shot while stopped at a traffic light, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Darty was stopped at the light in the 12700 block of South Marshfield Avenue when another vehicle pulled alongside her and opened fire at 3:49 a.m., Calumet Park police coordinator Gerard Corrigan told the paper.

Darty was pronounced dead at 5:09 a.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Calumet Park police are investigating the crime.
