Woman Sexually Assaulted in Arlington Heights Senior Living Community

At about 10:30 p.m., police say someone climbed through an unlocked window at Church Creek Senior Living community in Arlington Heights and sexually assaulted a woman

A woman living in a suburban senior living facility was sexually assaulted Thursday, according to police.

At about 10:30 p.m., police say someone climbed through an unlocked window at Church Creek Senior Living in Arlington Heights and sexually assaulted a woman inside her home.

A short time later, residents at the community near Central Road and Dwyer Avenue say several officers responded to the report of a break-in.

Jim Zibble recently moved into Church Creek, and says on Friday afternoon the staff held a meeting alerting residents of the assault and break-in that took place.

“I would never have expected,” Zibble said. “A bunch of old people? Come on.”

Zibble says Church Creek staff reminded residents to keep their doors and windows locked.

An unprovoked attack in what is typically a quiet community was a shock to most living at the facility.

“To have all those officers out here this morning when my caregiver got here it kind of startled me,” Church Creek resident Andrew Bailey said.

Investigators have not released the identity of the victim, but community members spoke fondly of their neighbor.

“She’s a pretty nice woman,” Maria Higgs said. “The poor thing, I feel sorry for her.”

Emergency crews transported the victim to nearby Northwest Community Hospital following the assault. No further details have been released.

As of Friday evening, police did not have any suspects in custody as they continue to investigate the incident.
