Woman Lied About Son Being In Stolen Car: Cops

Police said the woman lied so they would find her car faster

A south suburban mother faces criminal charges after falsely reporting her car was stolen with her toddler inside.

Police say 25-year-old Jeanette Holt of the 100 block of West 155th Street in Harvey lied to them this week about her 1-year-old boy being in the car so officers would search for her car faster.

Holt called 911 just after 9:38 a.m. Wednesday and alleged her vehicle had been stolen in front of a day care center with the keys in the ignition and her son in the back seat, police said.

After what police describe as a desperate search, they eventually did find the car. Holt's son had been safe at a day care the entire time.

Hot was charged with felony disorderly conduct and is scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday.
