Woman Killed in Suburban Semi-Truck Crash Identified

The woman killed in a crash involving a semi-truck and a car in the south suburbs on Wednesday afternoon has been identified.

Deanna Lynn Haze, 27, was pronounced dead following the collision, which sent the semi slamming into a vacant house in Sauk Village.

Officials did not have confirmation of her exact address, saying that her driver's license listed a Chicago address, but other factors indicated she may not have been residing in the city.

Illinois State Police said the truck and sedan collided at 2:21 p.m. on northbound I-394 near 217th St and Peterson, sending the truck off the roadway and into the back end of a vacant residence.

Authorities said a preliminary investigation revealed that the sedan, a Toyota, was traveling at an accelerated rate of speed, and attempted to make a sudden lane change from the far left lane into the far right lane where a semi-truck was driving.

The rear of the car clipped the front of the truck and spun out, police said. Both vehicles veered right, with the Toyota hitting a tree and the semi careening into the empty house.

Haze was pronounced dead on the scene, and the 68-year-old driver of the semi declined medical attention.
