A woman was killed Tuesday night in a fiery collision on Interstate-88 near Aurora, officials said.

Illinois State Police said the woman was driving an SUV at 7:15 p.m. when a semi crossed the median and slammed into her vehicle at Butterfield Road. The Jeep and truck both burst into flames, closing I-88 for nearly six hours.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver survived.

Police believe the driver lost control, but the cause of the crash is under investigation.
