The woman was pronounced dead on the scene, police said

A 21-year-old woman was found dead on a CTA Brown Line platform Saturday morning.

Police arrived at the Washington and Wells station at about 7 a.m. after receiving a call about an unresponsive person at 30 N. Wells St., according to Police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada.

The woman was pronounced dead on the scene, Estrada said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the woman as June Ward of the 3800 block of West 63rd Street. An autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death is scheduled for Sunday.

The CTA trains operating on the elevated tracks in the Loop were temporarily bypassing Washington and Wells Saturday morning due to police activity, according to the CTA. Normal service has since resumed.

Police have begun a death investigation to determine the circumstances of the woman's death.
