Woman Files Lawsuit for Hair-Sucking Vacuum

An every day household item turned into the attacker of a north suburban woman

A Libertyville woman is suing an Ohio-based-vacuum-maker for over $200,000 because she claims a “defective” vacuum cleaner sucked and ripped her hair out of her scalp.

Terri Washburn Gattone filed the suit against the Kirby Co. on Friday in Cook County Circuit Court, reported the Chicago Sun-Times. She claims that an attachment hose connector on the vacuum cleaner broke when she was using it last August.

According to the lawsuit, the vacuum cleaner was “defective and unreasonably dangerous,” and that Kirby sold the machine without “adequate testing” or warning about personal injuries.
