Woman Falls out of Wheelchair onto CTA Tracks

A woman was transported to a hospital in critical condition after she fell out of her wheelchair onto the CTA Blue Line tracks Sunday afternoon on the West Side.

At 1:05 p.m. a 50-year-old woman fell out of a wheelchair and onto the tracks on the Blue Line near Cicero Avenue, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Quention Curtis.

The Cicero stop on that portion of the Blue Line is located at 720 S. Cicero Ave., according to the CTA's website.

The woman -- who did not get hit by a train or run over by a train -- was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, according to Curtis

Curtis said he did not think she hit the electrified third rail.
