Woman Charged With Striking, Dragging Officer With Car

Woman accused of striking an officer with a car and dragging her a half-block

A Chicago woman was charged Wednesday after police say her car struck and dragged an officer earlier this week.

Catherine Brown, 38, of the 8300 block of South Kerfoot Avenue was charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery involving a peace officer as well as several traffic violations.

Brown is accused of striking a female officer just after 9 p.m. Monday and dragging her for about a half-block near West 83rd Street and South Kerfoot Avenue.

Police said Brown was being pulled over for a traffic violation, and as officers approached, she hit the officer in the face then sped off and hit her with the vehicle.

The officer was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital after suffering non life-threatening injuries, police said.

Brown was later arrested. The officer is expected to be OK.
