West Chicago Man Charged in Cousin's Murder

The victim was found lying on the side of the road with a gunshot wound to the head

A West Chicago man was charged with first-degree murder after his cousin was found dead lying on the side of the road.

The DuPage County Sheriff’s office charged James Hernandez, 19, for the death of Enrique Hernandez Jr., 27.

On Nov. 20th, the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of an injured person lying at the intersection of Highlake and DuPage Avenues in unincorporated West Chicago.

The person was taken to Central DuPage Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The man was later identified as Enrique. He suffered a gunshot wound to the head, according to the DuPage County coroner’s office.

James is currently being held in the DuPage County Jail and will appear in bond court Sunday morning.
