Weekend Violence Leaves 13 Injured in Shootings Citywide

Among the wounded was a 14-year-old boy and a woman shot while inside a taxi in Wicker Park

At least 13 people, including a woman shot inside a taxi and a 14-year-old boy, have been injured in shootings across Chicago since Friday evening, according to police.

  • The first shooting occurred at about 6:50 p.m. Friday in the 1500 block of East 61st Street in the Woodlawn neighborhood when a 14-year-old boy with documented gang ties was shot in the lower leg. The boy was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in good condition.
  • A 26-year-old man was shot in the side at about 11:45 p.m. Friday in the 1600 block of West Juneway Terrace in the Rogers Park neighborhood. He was taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston where his condition was stabilized.
  • A 23-year-old man was shot in the left hip in the 6900 block of South Peoria at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning. The victim was standing outside when two men exited a gangway across the street and began shooting. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in good condition.
  • A 25-year-old man was struck in the leg in a drive-by shooting at about 1:10 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of East 93rd Street in the Chatham. The victim was standing outside when a black four-door vehicle drove by, and someone inside the car fired shots. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where his condition was stabilized.
  • Two men, ages 18 and 30, were shot in the ankle and leg, abdomen and buttocks, respectively, at about 3:25 p.m. Saturday in the 5000 block of South Aberdeen in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. The men were standing outside when a gunman walked up to them and opened fire. The victims were both taken to Stroger Hospital, the younger one in good condition and the older one in serious condition.
  • A 19-year-old man was shot in the right arm at about 7:10 p.m. Saturday in the 4600 block of West Erie in the Austin neighborhood. The man showed up at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park with the gunshot wound.
  • A 35-year-old woman was shot at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday while riding in a taxi in the 1200 block of North Damen in the Wicker Park neighborhood. She was inside a taxi parked in an alley when she heard gunshots and realized she had been struck. She was taken to Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center where her condition stabilized.
  • A 21-year-old man was shot in the thigh at about 7:15 a.m. Sunday in the 4700 block of South Kostner in the Archer Heights neighborhood. He showed up in good condition at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center with the gunshot wound.
  • A 16-year-old man was shot in the head at about 12:50 p.m. Sunday in the 5800 block of West Patterson in the Portage Park neighborhood. The man was taken in critical condition to Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
  • Three people -- a 24-year-old man, 25-five-old man and 22-year-old woman -- were shot at about 1:15 p.m. in the 5800 block of South LaSalle in the Englewood neighborhood. The 24-year-old man was shot in the chest, and the 25-year-old man was shot in the hip, hand and back. Both were taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition. The 22-year-old woman was shot in the knee and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in stable condition.
