The National Weather Service has issued a Lakeshore Flood Advisory for Lake and Cook counties as strong winds caused waves up to 13 feet tall along the lakefront Saturday.
The high winds along with above average lake levels will likely cause minor flooding by the shore, according to the National Weather Service. The flood advisory is expected to end at 11 p.m.
Most of the day Saturday will remain cloudy and cool with a high of 57 degrees. A chance for rain showers and patchy drizzle arrives in the afternoon and again in the evening.
The wind will die down in the evening and overnight hours, but the cool, cloudy conditions will remain. The high for Sunday is 60 degrees, and the chance for rain showers persists in the morning and afternoon.
The wind and rain will move out by the start of the work week, and temperatures are expected to rise into the 70s.
The next chance for rain is expected to arrive Thursday.
