Walmart Reaches Out to Lakeview Residents

Store executives meet with residents Monday night

Walmart needs to ring up its best pitch before a tough crowd in Lakeview Monday night.

The Arkansas-based retail giant reportedly wants to move forward with a store at Broadway and Surf on the North Side.

Crain's Chicago Business reported in December Walmart signed a letter of intent for a
30,000-square-foot-store
.

Walmart later contacted Ald. Tom Tunney denying that, according to Crain's.

Store executives will meet with Lakeview residents at 7 p.m. at Wellington Church located at 615 W. Wellington Ave.

Meanwhile residents in Little Village want the big box chain to build a Walmart in their neighborhood.

A community group said Sunday that Little Village could use the jobs and the revenue, and the city would benefit from a more centrally located Walmart than those planned on the South Side.
