WATCH: Pup Rescued From Icy Lake Michigan

Video shows the January morning rescue

A Chicago Fire Department crew earlier this month guided a dog out of the icy waters of Lake Michigan, wrapped up the pup and carried him to safety.

The video of the rescue surfaced this week, and it's just as heartwarming as you'd expect.

It started out as a frightening situation for the dog's owner. She was walking the dog along the lake at Lake Shore Drive and 41st Street on the morning of Jan. 10 when the dog ran out onto the ice.

The pup fell through, and a passerby called police.

The video, posted to YouTube by Abed Abufara, shows crew members pulling a diver carrying the dog through the water and along the ice to shore.

The dog is seen being wrapped in blankets, given a relieved hug by a scared owner and carried off camera.
