9 Shot, 1 Dead in Violent Night

Little Village shooting may be related to conflict that killed 6-year-old

This has been another violent weekend in the city.

Nine people were shot overnight, including four who were gunned down in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, the Tribune reported.

Three men and a woman were shot shortly after 11 p.m., as they stood outside the Supper Club on the 2700 block of West Madison Street. Police say a man who had been denied entry returned with a gun and opened fire.

The men are in stable condition, and the woman's condition is serious.

The shooter ran from the scene, and as of late Sunday morning had not been caught.

Around midnight, a man's body was found in a Little Village neighborhood apartment. He'd been shot in the chest.

Police told the Trib that shooting may be related to another, which killed a 6-year-old girl last month. Two gangs are fighting with each other in that neighborhood.

Later, around 5 a.m., a man shot himself in the chest in East Garfield Park, according to police. They're not sure if it was an attempted suicide or an accident, the paper reported.

Two other men were hurt in separate South Side shootings, and another man was shot on the North Side. All are expected to survive.
