Vigil Held For NIU Shooting Victim

Northern Illinois University on Tuesday held a vigil for the late Steve Agee II to celebrate his life and time as a NIU student leader.

Agee, 22,  was murdered Nov. 23 at an off-campus party.   He was shot three times in the chest around 2 a.m. at an apartment on the 800 block of Edgebrook Drive in Dekalb. He was pronounced dead at Kishwaukee Hospital.

The vigil honored Agee, who was a senior sociology major and student leader on campus, starting at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the the Duke Ellington Ballroom in the Holmes Student Center at NIU.

Agee's friends, relatives and representatives from the National Fraternity of Kappa Alpha Psi were in attendance.

Chaz Thrailkill, 19, has been arrested and charged with first degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm. He is currently held on a $3 million bail.
