Victory Auto Wreckers Says No Winner in Rigged Ad Contest

The 30-year-old Victory Auto Workers commercial so familiar to those who live in the Chicago area will not get the fan makeover the business's owners imagined.

The Bensenville auto business launched a contest in January for fans of the well-known ad to create their own version of the commercial. Voting ended Tuesday to choose the best ad, which will be aired from Saturday until the end of the month. According to the company's Facebook page, however, there is no winner.

The reason? It seems the contest was rigged.

"This contest was supposed to be fun," a Facebook post from the company said. "It was supposed to be for the people of the Chicago-land area, who have been watching (or, more likely, being subjected to) our commercial for the last 30 years. It was not meant for anyone OUTSIDE of the local area... California, Washington, Bangladesh.... It is a shame that some contestants felt that they needed to 'win at all costs.'"

While the owners of Victory Auto Wreckers failed to specify just how the contest was rigged, they made it clear there will not be one clear winner.

Instead, the business will air all eight entries at different times until the company's own new ad hits TV screens May 1, according to the Daily Herald.
