Vernon Hills Couple Could Land on “America's Most Wanted”

20-somethings have been missing for a week

Vernon Hills police have been searching for Kristina Aksman, 20, and Daniel Baker, 21, since last week.

But the search could go national if "America’s Most Wanted" takes on the case, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Aksman and Baker have been missing since Thursday morning when authorities discovered Aksman’s mother, Marina, beaten to death in her Vernon Hills home.

The couple, who have been dating about eight months, were last seen last week Baker's Deerfield home. Police said they may be driving a 2009 Nissan Rogue with Illinois license plate 4219607.

Police changed the pair’s status from “persons of interest” to “missing and endangered” late last week.

"At this time, we don't know what happened," a police official told the Chicago Tribune. "They could be witnesses. They could be offenders."

Vernon Hills police confirmed they have spoken with the producers of the crime show, but haven’t decided whether to participate.

Geri West, a spokesperson for America's Most Wanted, told the Tribune that the show has talked to police, but an air date has not yet been scheduled.
