Nothing Suspicious Found After Hoffman Estates High Lockdown

Unattended package was found in the stadium at Hoffman Estates High

A northwest suburban high school was put on lockdown after a suspicious package was found near the stadium, but police have now given the all clear.

At about 10:30 a.m., the unattended package was found in the stadium at Hoffman Estates High at 1100 W. Higgins Rd. in Hoffman Estates, according to an alert on the school’s website.

Hoffman Estate police and school administrators initiated a soft lockdown while the package was being investigated. The statement said the “package was located on the outer perimeter of the campus, and students and staff are safe inside the school.”

Police cleared the scene about 12:30 p.m. after nothing suspicious was found in the package, according to a statement on the Township High School District 211 website.

The school is one of the host sites for the IHSA girls state tennis tournament, and participants and spectators were moved into the building during the lockdown. Play has now resumed as scheduled, the district statement said.

No injuries were reported.
