UCAN Polar Peace March

NBC 5 Chicago is proud to sponsor the 3rd annual Polar Peace March on Sunday, January 15th from 4:00pm – 6:00pm.

The Polar Peace March is a 1.5 mile walk from St. Paul’s United Church of Christ on Orchard marching north to Diversey, then heading east to Clark Street and finally southeast to Fullerton. The March will include a Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration at 4:00pm, and a warm-up with food at 6:00pm.

The Polar Peace March benefits UCAN and its violence prevention initiatives. Participants will march in solidarity with those who have experienced violence and trauma in Chicago.  UCAN works to address Chicago’s violence epidemic by treating at-risk youth who have experienced trauma, while connecting them with adult mentors and employment opportunities.

200 Chicago youth ages 10-25 are killed by gunfire each year. Help take a stand against violence in the city and consider participating in this year’s Polar Peace March.
