Two Chicago police officers have been injured after their car crash in the Portage Park neighborhood Saturday night.
The officers in a police SUV were responding to a call and heading eastbound in the 6200 block of Irving Park Road when their car was struck by another vehicle heading southbound on Melvina, police said. The officers were responding to assist another officer when the crash happened.
The SUV struck a light pole before stopping, police said.
Both police officers were transported to the hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other car, who will be cited, was taken to Our Lady of the Resurrection in good condition, police said.
